A GOLD Event was organized on August 24,2011 under IEEE NSIT in association with IEEE Delhi
GOLD. The speakers for the day were Ayush Jain, who works as an analyst with Grail Research, and
Siddi Jaiprakash who works as a Design Engineer with Freescale Semiconductors.
GOLD stands for Graduate of Last Decade.
The talk focused on the career aspects for electrical engineers. Siddi Jaiprakash involved the audience
with a series of questions, on how they perceived various things. As a token of encouragement to the
people who were attending the event, chocolates were also given to the audience, whenever someone
came up with an impressive answer.
Ayush Jain handled lot who were more inclined towards the non-technical side. He briefly explained
what being an analyst was all about, how the number crunching works. To keep the audience involved,
he also showed some of his case studies, and told the audience , as to how to interpret the statistical
looking gibberish.
Both of them also spoke on the benefits of being an IEEE member and attending the various IEEE
meets which are held across India. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the session, particularly the number
crunching by Ayush, and the question answer session by Siddi.
For the benefit of students at large, more such talks should be held on a regular basis.
